New Footpath Opens Along the River Ure

A new footpath has opened along the west bank of the River Ure from St Stephen’s Church Aldwark to Aldwark Toll Bridge where there is also a picnic area and wildlife site
Starting immediately south of St Stephen's church in Aldwark village, it then proceeds in a south westerly direction along the existing gravel track leading to the golf course for approximately 110 metres to the metal footbridge. Then it goes across the footbridge over the River Ure for approximately 70 metres, and then continues in a southerly direction following the river bank and the golf course for approximately 1,033 metres until it joins an existing public footpath just north of Aldwark Toll Bridge.

Parking

PLEASE PARK RESPONSIBILITY, AVOIDING DAMAGE TO GRASS VERGES AND AVOIDING PARKING WHERE ACCESS TO RESIDENTS' DRIVES IS BLOCKED. The road is quite narrow and it is very difficult to exit driveways if a vehicle is parked opposite. The best side of the road to park between the church and the pub is on the same side as the church and pub as this helps alleviate this problem. Please also remember that with a working farm opposite the church, large farm vehicles need to exit and enter frequently through the day.
